Marcelo Flores did not have the expected debut with the Mexican team, because unfortunately for him he missed a penalty and at the end of the match he could not help but hold back his tears. However, in a moment of sadness he had a tantrum and disdain against a rival from Suriname, who approached him to exchange shirts, but the Mexican refused.
Flores, who was only able to play 10 minutes in Mexico’s victory against Suriname, came on for Diego Lainez and showed certain important virtues, despite the fact that he was unable to score his penalty goal in a play that, precisely, was born from his boots.
Finally, after the match, when he was crying and being consoled by his teammates, contempt on his part towards a rival occurred who approached with the intention of changing his shirt with that of the Arsenal footballer, as can be seen in the video (4 :10).
Why Marcelo Flores refused to exchange his shirt
Although many believed that the original reason was due to a tantrum for having missed his penalty, it seems that the real cause is far from that argument. Well, apparently, Flores wanted to keep the shirt with which he debuted in an official match with the senior team and for that reason he preferred to keep it.
In this sense and taking into account the sentimental value that the shirt represents, despite having missed a penalty using it, it is very valuable so he preferred to keep it and probably later gave another one to his rival.
