The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) eliminates its general COVID testing requirements.
Starting Monday, June 13, and through the next school year, LAUSD will only test students with symptoms of coronavirus or who have been exposed to someone who has tested positive.
However, as the only exception, students attending early care and education settings will continue to be tested weekly with PCR exams until the end of their school yearwhich is June 30, 2022, LAUSD officials said in a statement.
All exams against COVID will now be carried out with rapid antigen tests to be performed at homeinstead of the old PCR tests.
“All school campuses will also continue to use the Daily Pass portal for daily health screening questions, monitoring rapid antigen test results, and notifying you and your child if you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive,” the statement said. LAUSD.
Although COVID cases are on the rise again in Los Angeles County, LAUSD said transmission rates within schools are low and that the risk of contagion to students and school staff is minimal.
