A 2.9 magnitude tremor was recorded this Monday morning off the coast of Malibuaccording to United States Geological Survey (USGS).
Quake occurred at 9:02 a.m. about 8.7 miles south southeast of Malibuat a depth of 7.1 miles.
Early reports from the USGS “Did You Feel It” map indicated that few residents in Los Angeles County and nearby towns did not feel the tremor.
“Small earthquake off the coast of Malibu this morning. We often see small tremors in this area,” Southern California seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones wrote on social media.
Malibu or Los Angeles County authorities they did not immediately report if residents were injured or if there was material damage caused by tremor.
