One person was killed in a violent hit-and-run accident that occurred early Tuesday morning in Canoga Park.prompting authorities to search for the driver.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 am on Tuesday at De Soto Avenue and Vanowen Street, according to reports from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
The researchers believe that a dark-colored Dodge Ram ran a red light while traveling on De Soto Avenue at a high speed, estimated to be around 80 miles per hourand collided with a Lexus heading west on Vanowen Street.
The speed limit in the area is 40 miles per hour.
Due to the force of the impact, the Lexus struck and damaged a nearby telephone pole.in addition to scattering debris throughout the street.
The driver of the Lexus, identified only as a man between 25 and 30 years olddied at the scene of the accident.
The driver allegedly responsible for the hit and run abandoned the Dodge at the scene of the mishap and fled on foot.
The authorities think that person could be a seller of items such as baseball and basketball hats.
At this time, there was no description of the driver responsible for the fatal hit and run.
