The Toronto Blue Jays sportingly massacred the Boston Red Sox with an overwhelming final score of 28 lines against five and also set a new racing record for the franchise.
The most runs the Blue Jays had made in a game was the 24 they scored on the Orioles of Baltimore on June 26, 1978. This time the mark that dates back more than 40 years is surpassed and they do it in Fenway Park itself, home of the Boston Red Sox.
Blue Jays massacre on Red Sox
Bo Bichette hit an RBI in the first, while Matt Chapman was driven in with a two-run homer in the second.. Despite the good start, later everything was going to go one way.
The Blue Jays did not stop hitting and in the third inning, culminating in a grand slam inside the park by Raimel Tapia, which materialized due to Jarren Duran’s error when he lost track of a fly ball in center field.
Only five innings were enough for Toronto’s ninth to set a new all-time record for runs scored for the franchise.
Another record for the Blue Jays
The run record wasn’t the only one the Blue Jays would set tonight, also the Dominican Raimel Tapia became the second player in the club’s history to win a Grand Slam on the field.
The other player to achieve the feat of a Grand Slam on the field with the franchise was his compatriot Junior Félix, in 1989 and curiously enough, he also achieved it at Fenway Park.
Hits and more hits from the Blue Jays
Danny Jansen was one of the great figures of the ninth for Toronto with a total of six RBIs. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. finished with 6 hits, of the 29 that she hit the ninth Canadian to end up winning with an overwhelming score of 28-5.
The Blue Jays approached the historical record of the entire MLB, which was established by the Texas Rangers with 30 touchdowns in the year 2007.
