The Tigres UANL thrashed Toluca this Saturday 3-0 and they became the new leaders of Liga MX Clausura 2022.
The Mexicans Juan Pablo Vigón and Sebastián Córdova and the Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac scored for the felines, who they passed over the rival in the second half.
Although they dominated, the Tigers missed some offensive plays in the first half, but in the second they imposed their rhythm and violated Toluca’s defense, the weakest in the tournament.
In the 58th minute, Vigón scored with his right leg with a cross shot from a pass by the French Florian Thauvin, in the 67th, Córdova converted with an elegant left-footed goal from outside the area and in the 71st, Gignac made it 3-0, with a header in an assist from Colombian Luis Quiñones.
Gignac was confirmed as the leader of the scorers with 11 goalstwo more than the Argentine Nicolás Ibáñez, from Pachuca.
With the result Coach Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera’s team reached 10 wins, with two draws, two losses and 32 pointssame balance as Pachuca, which they outdo for better goal difference.
Led by Uruguayan coach Guillermo Almada, Pachuca beat Juárez FC 1-2 on Friday, with goals from Nicolás Ibáñez and Bryan González.
Two hours before the Tigres victory, Venezuelan Fernando Aristeguieta converted a goal to give Puebla a 0-1 win over León, remaining in third place with 26 points, six less than the occupants of the first two places in the table.
The day began on Thursday, when Argentina’s Gonzalo Sosa converted a pair of goals and gave Mazatlan a surprise 2-1 victory over champions Atlas, who discounted with a well-taken penalty by Argentina’s Julio Furch.
