While soccer fans, and in particular Mexicans, debate whether or not Javier Hernández should be called up to the Mexican soccer team in order to play in another World Cup, the historic “Chicharito” showed his most human side by breaking down with emotion while talking about his children during an interview with journalist Jorge Ramos.
During the interview produced by ViX that will be broadcast this Sunday, Ramos asked Hernández about his posts on social networks in relation to Noah and Nala, his young children whom he cannot have close after the soccer player from Guadalajara separated from Sarah Kohan , who has accused him of being a bad father.
Hernández explained that he has decided to stay out of the controversies on social networks to protect his children.
“Because there are things that are going to stay there that my children can see in the future. So I have to be very delicate in that aspect and I have to have a lot of respect and at the end of the day you never know if you have to post or not,” “Chicharito” told Ramos in the LA Galaxy locker room.
“I have not wanted to victimize myself, I have not wanted to seek empathy… I have not shown it, but yes, it has been two very complicated years of my lifeone of the most complicated, but very complicated and I did not want to post any of that”.
It was at that moment that tears began to flood the eyes of the man who will be 34 years old on June 1.
“And I have decided to keep it that way and pay the consequences that even many people have said and have spoken that I am a bad father when they have no idea because I have not posted anything, so how are they going to know that I am a good father or a bad father? But I’ve really done it… I’ve done it for them.”
When the interviewer asked him about the pain he has felt, “Chicharito” broke down.
“Ugh. I have experienced a lot of pain, yes, a lot… ”, she said. “Yes, they are the two beings that I love the most in my life.”
Several weeks ago Hernández dedicated a long message on his Instagram account to his children. Noah was 2 years old at the time and Nala was 1.
Chicharito: “If I didn’t want to be in the national team, I would have retired”
Jorge Ramos graciously did not insist on the family issue and began to talk about soccer, where “Chicharito” has been a subject of great controversy for months as it was not taken into account by the Mexico coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martin.
“Fucking roller coaster…!” Hernandez said between laughs but still crying. when Ramos asked him about his absence in the Tricolor.
“Look, with that issue as well as that of my children, there are situations that the only thing I can tell you and that is with all my heart, is that I am doing everything possible on and off the field to do what corresponds to me and do what that it’s up to me to maybe have an opportunity”, commented Hernández, who clarified to Ramos that of course he aspires to another World Cup with Mexico, which would be his fourth at a senior level.
“If I didn’t want to be in the national team I would have retired, it’s very easy; If I didn’t want to be in the national team, I would have already finished this cycle.I would have retired and left everything in peace, “he said.
Chicharito confirmed to Ramos that it is the coach Martino who has decided not to call him for now, but he clarified in a very diplomatic way: “The coach has been very clear and I have also been very clear, we are both doing the best we can, I think he also has it in his mind, for the benefit of Mexico. And I have always said it publicly, here we have to support Mexico”.
And he added: “Here what do you want? That things be done the way you want or do you want Mexico to win even though, even though the way you want, it is not happening?”
The program “Something Personal with Jorge Ramos” is transmitted by streaming Sundays at 10 pm ET on ViX and is available “on demand” in the United States and Latin American countries except Mexico.
