This series was a light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keiji Mizoguchi. A film adaptation was also released as a sequel in June 2019.
The series received an outstanding rating of 8.31 on MyAnimeList, with a huge number of fans praying for its return. Then why is this anime not renewed for another season? We might have an answer.
The Bunny Girl Senpai Light Novel Series currently has 11 volumes. The first season of Bunny Girl Senpai animation was created out of the first 5 volumes of the light novel series, and the movie covered the 6th and 7th volume. There are currently 4 volumes that are still left to be covered in the following season which is not enough. The show makers need five volumes to create one series. Therefore, we need to wait patiently for the 12th volume to arrive. Only by then, the creators will be able to produce another brand new season.
Assuming the light novel series takes around 1-2 years to release a new volume, it might come until late 2021 or 2022. Speculations are that the next anime season might be here in the year 2023. We will let you know the actual release date once we know more.
But that doesn’t stop us from telling the plotline of season 2!
The first season had a happy ending which was loved by the fans. Kaede returns from the hospital and decides to go back to school, knowing that she is no longer alone in her problem. We also witnessed Sakuta and Mai getting closer to each other. The film sequel showcased Sakuta’s first crush, Shoko and her two versions and how Sakutu tries to save her.
If the second season is ever announced, we’ll get to experience the 8th volume in a light novel series named Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister on an Outing.
