Last words on Vinland Saga
Talking about the animation, Vinland Saga is a well-animated series. It incorporates stunning artwork and gorgeous visuals. The show also has got some of the best action sequences out there.
This show did sincere justice to the original manga. It is not just a revenge story, it’s a multi-faceted tale, rich characters, unflinching towards the brutalities of war with a solid foundation in real history. So, we can say this action-packed series is based on real historical events. This show pushes the boundaries of what’s possible and will make you believe the fact that some larger-than-life characters existed in our real-world history.
The show not only embodies a unique storyline but also some of the best character development you’ll find out there. The creators were very careful about world-building and character development. They did absolute justice to Thorfinn’s character development. At first, he is just a little boy with innocent eyes but as the story progresses, we see him turning into a violent human being who’s thirsty for revenge. It’s heartbreaking to witness the journey of Thorfinn going from a sweet boy to an emotional killer. It’s such a tragedy to see a joyous little boy full of energy and youthful fantasies, turn into a person filled with anger and hatred. This anime truly shines in its tender and melancholic moments and we are forced to shed some tears.
The star of this show has to be Askeland. He is one of the best antagonists in anime out there. He is cunning, manipulative and has a witty charm and charisma which is impossible to go unnoticed.
Even after the cruelty shown in the series, it somehow contains beauty in the storytelling. Despite the shock of raping, murdering, pillaging that has been going on in the series, it’s the sons going off the track, what his father tried to teach him, that’s what shatters the most. It’s that kind of story that stays with you even if the story ends.
